10 fragrances that could be ruining your love life

Your choice of perfume can make a huge difference in how well your love life is going. A good perfume can get you all the attention you want but wearing the wrong fragrance could have you marked out for all the wrong reasons.

With this in mind, online marketplace OnBuy.com has survey a cross section of people (more than 2,000 in total) with the intention of finding our which fragrances could be ruining your chances at love.

To start with, almost 9 in 10 (88 percent) of women said that body odour would be a deal breaker. Taking it a step further, when asked “even if the person was everything you dreamed of?” 68 percent of women still said it would be a deal breaker. So body odour is a definite no-no.

With over 25,000 people globally searching for the best cologne for men per month on Google, OnBuy showed participants the list of top 30 men’s fragrances and which ones they’d hate on a potential partner – and WHY they hate that scent.
While Dior Suavage was a favourite with men (81 percent of men say they wear it), when asked what this cologne reminded them of, one in three women said it reminded them of their ex. Paco Rabanne’s 1 million and Aventus eau de parfum followed behind Sauvage with 1 in 5 women saying it reminded them of their ex and therefore they no longer like the cologne as it brings back memories.

OnBuy also asked what scent was hated the most, in the hopes of helping singletons avoid scents that could be ruining their chances at love. Pachouli was the least popular note amongst participants of the survey, with 83 percent saying they hated it. The fragrances where participants found these notes to be strongest were: 1 million, A*Men and Noir. 

Bergamot was the second most hated note in a fragrance when it comes to men (75%). Fragrances where this note was said to be strong were: Sauvage, Light blue and 1 million, Mint: was another scent people hated in fragrances (71%). Colognes people found this strongest in and therefore put them off were: A*Men, Le Male, Cool Water and 1 million.
